You would have left me in the dust! I can totally understand your concern with the heat though. It's kicking in now and i can barely run after 830am. It is just sooo humid! I'm sure you'll be back to running races in no time. Anything donw in excess is daunting and you just need a little break but I think your legs will be screaming for action sooner than you think!
Love Lisa!Lisa Torresnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36090358.post-85091967908670239372009-04-28T17:52:00.000-05:002009-04-28T17:52:00.000-05:00Aww. Your time and pace for an uphill run in hot and muggy conditions is wonderful!

My times would be in the toilet if it ever got warmer than 70 degrees. My times would also be in the toilet if I had hills to deal with. But both my races were flat as my pre-surgery boobies and temps were in the 40's and 60's.

Taking a break is probably a good idea for awhile, but hopefully with time you will want to try again! Say maybe in Albany Georgia next March, with a completely flat course and cool temps and a couple of Ugly Running Moms at your side:)

Well done, and welcome to the club (of which I am currently serving as lame cheerleader).Nicolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08652106541674856350noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36090358.post-79394289854789900542009-04-26T21:04:00.000-05:002009-04-26T21:04:00.000-05:00Christy, you DID it! You might have a group of moms (and SILs) around you that runs half marathons, but I'm here to tell you that most moms of America do not run 13.1 miles, for any reason, for any number of hours. Ever. Not once. And YOU, my friend, DID!

And I think that running anywhere -- much less uphill both ways through the scorcing heat while dodging tornados -- for 2 hours, 7 minutes and 25 seconds is nothing short of miraculous. I'm so happy for you!!!!

Congratulations for setting a huge goal and getting there.Debhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17214382567822341939noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36090358.post-83799305554081636042009-04-26T19:36:00.000-05:002009-04-26T19:36:00.000-05:00CHRISTY! You did it in great time! Not what you wanted, but from the perspective of someone who can't get under 10:30 miles I promise you, you're awesome.
SO PROUD! SSSSSSSOOOOOOO PROUD! I know you're disappointed with the overall race, but you already explained the several factors that probably contributed to your difficulties...I had a similar experience with my 5k (which seems like a laugh after reading this!) on Saturday...

I am just so proud of you, and astounded at your accomplishment!
