The best Christmas ever!

It was touch and go all week for Scott. He wasn't 100% certain if he was going to be home for Christmas, but not once did he let me in on that. Instead, he and his crew, as well as many others, worked very hard, putting in long hours, to make sure Scott's relief crew was able to get to Nebraska to relieve them....and they did! (yay). Scott was able to get home by 9:30 last night to say "goodnight" to the boys and wish us all a "Merry Christmas".

Having Scott home for Christmas, even as late as 9:30pm on Christmas Eve, definitely made our Christmas around here. We could not have asked for anything more. However, we do miss being able to see family this time of year. I miss having the company of siblings, cousins, grandparents, chaos, chocolate in every hidden corner of the house, game nights, and dodging the Kilgore stomach bug which is usually inevitable when visiting Lebanon. However, I have to say since our circumstances have changed, and our life has been so much less predictable, it's nice to create our own family traditions with the boys. Yes it's quieter and less hectic, but honestly it's great to just have time as a family to enjoy the simple things in life and to appreciate the fact our daddy can be home WITH US with no distractions. Not to mention we don't have to mess with the hassle of traveling in the winter time or with the masses scurrying to and fro. But the trip when taken, is always worth the effort at the end of the day.

This year we had an awesome Christmas. It was great to wake up before the boys on Christmas morning, brew the coffee, put the cinnamon buns in the oven (to later forget about them), and ease into our morning. The unwrapping of the gifts was fun. The excitement and the joy the kids had was memorable, and then of course, we opened the Wii! If we didn't know Zach was an athlete before, we do now! The boy has some skills people!!! He has kicked both Scott and my butts in bowling, twice! (and yes we did try!!!!)

Ty has also really gotten into the Christmas spirit. He has had so much fun playing with his toys and SHARING them with big brother (no drama to report yet). It's been nice to just be with the kids and have this time, uninterrupted, with daddy and to enjoy the season together.

We do miss our families, but are so grateful to also have time together as a family.
