The Navy Ball

Vice Admiral Kilcline and his wife are in town this week for the Navy Ball. What an event this is. While they are in town the squadron hosted a Spouses' roundtable with Mrs. Kilcline, a very rare and yet very important for us spouses to attend. It was nice to meet Mrs. Kilcline and have the squadron talk to us about our the history of TACAMO (which stands for TAKE CHARGE AND MOVE OUT); our husband's missions; the aircraft they fly; deployments to Iraq; what to expect over the next three years and what we hope will change. We also talked about the struggles the spouses' face being in an AF world; living on versus off base; child care; etc. It was also nice to have Mrs. Kilcline be apart of that discussion as I don't think she realized just how segregated the Navy families feel being here in OK; nor did she realize the struggles we all face being so scattered all over the city. She was very nice and we appreciated her attendance and her invitation to sit and talk with us.

It was fun to dress up and be girly for a night, as well as do something ADULT for a change. Scott looked awesome of course! Who can resist a man in uniform? So here we are here outside before leaving for the ball.

Funny enough, the Navy ball here in Oklahoma it is the LARGEST Navy Ball in world. Yah, here in OKLAHOMA. Doesn't that just sound strange to you? I still can't figure it out. But it is and there were a LOT of people there (and media). Oklahoma likes a good party!

It was hosted at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. A beautiful museum and must see when you all come and visit. If the lighting was better, I could have taken more pics, but here is the statue you see as you come into the building. This is a symbol you see all over Oklahoma City.

Anyway, by the end of the night, we were pooped. (by end of the night we mean 10:30) so we headed home. But I did not leave empty handed. The center pieces on the tables were given to the lady at the table who's birthday is closest to Mrs. Kilcline's. Her birthday is the 11th of January! How lucky am I?!!!
